It truly breaks my heart to write this, and I want to start by saying this decision has not been made lightly. We have prayed over it, cried over it, and wrestled with it in every way - but we've come to the incredibly difficult conclusion that we need to find a new home for River. We're asking for your help in doing so. As many of you know, River has been our whole world for the past 8 years. We raised him from a puppy, and he is truly the sweetest, most loyal, and loving dog. Unfortunately, we've learned that he just isn't kid-friendly. He has boundaries - which, as adults, we understand and respect - but our little ones simply aren't capable of doing that yet. We've tried to manage things with gates and separation, but with two babies crawling and a busy household, it's just not sustainable or safe. This has absolutely broken our hearts, but our children's safety has to come first. We don't believe River would intentionally hurt them, but as parents, that's not a risk we can take. Here are some details about him: - 8-year-old male Australian Shepherd, neutered - AKC registered - Best suited for a home with no small children and no other dogs (he likes to be the center of attention) - Needs a yard to run and play - Ideal for someone who is home often and can give him the love and companionship he thrives on. River deserves a peaceful, loving home where he won't be pushed beyond his limits - and we are committed to finding that for him. Please reach out if you're interested or know someone who might be. We won't be able to let him go unless we're absolutely confident he'll be safe, loved, and well cared for.
