Groot is a sweet little guy that's had a rough start in life. Groot found himself in the shelter at the tender age of 1 year because his Mom could no longer care for him and his brother. Groot is a friendly, cuddly guy, who wants nothing more than to be loved by his human. Groot is friendly with both large and small dogs and he is tolerant of cats. Probably because most of the ones he has met are bigger than he is. Groot loves to play with squeaky toys and will become very animated when he does. Talking to the toy, jumping on the toys and making an assortment of squeals as he shows the toy who is boss. Groot was born without the metacarpal pads on his two front feet. He doesn't let this slow him down but he does walk better on grass than pebbles. He loves to do zoomies on the grass and chase his dog friends. He only sustains this for a short while. Once he is tired he likes to lay down in the sun and catch a few rays. Groot is potty trained and once he knows where the back door is, he will walk there when he needs to go out. He rides nicely in the car is secured on the back seat. Groot would love an easy going home. One where his owner has time to shower him with some attention. He would enjoy short leash walks or just running around a fenced, grassy back yard. He needs an owner who will monitor his activity so he doesn't put undue stress on his joints. Although he is good with children we are looking for a home that does not have small children. Groot is 1 year 3 months old and weighs 22lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is crate trained but it isn't his favorite place to be.
