Shamira (Mira for short) is a very bubbly, sweet 2-year-old mixed breed. Her name is 'Shamira' because it means 'protector' in Hebrew. She is a protective dog. She has German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, and Dutch Shepherd in her. I have had her since she was 8 weeks old. She is weary of strangers, fearful of vets/groomers, but she loves the people that she knows. She is very food motivated and will eat just about anything! She does okay on a leash. She is fully potty-trained and crate-trained. Good on car rides. She will chase lasers like cats do, but she also loves chasing squirrels like a typical dog. She loves playing with her human with toys, 'working,' training, etc. She will probably whine when she goes to a new home because is attached to her owner. We are re-homing both of our dogs because we are moving and cannot take any dogs with us. It breaks my heart, because I love her so much. But she also doesn't get the exercise, attention, and training she needs right now. She is a highly trainable, intelligent dog. But I got pregnant with a second child while she was still a puppy, and I haven't been able to continue putting in the time and energy to keep her as happy as she can be. With having 2 children, she has learned how to be good with them, but she had to learn to be good with them, so I am still very cautious about their interactions. She used to growl at them and they didn't understand that that meant she wanted to be left alone. If you have children, it would be up to you how comfortable you are with how she does with them and your control over the situation. She has never shown full aggression towards them, but like with any animal, I'm very cautious still. If I'm unable to re-home my dogs, I'll have to take them to a shelter-and with their fearfulness around strangers, I worry they might be euthanized. The adoption fee helps cover her crate, toys, any remaining food I can provide, and ensures she doesn't end up with someone looking to breed her.
