Weimaraner

LONG HAIRED WEIM BEAUTY This is OSO...a uniquely different boy having long hair and simply stunning. He spent all of his 8 years of life outside mostly in a kennel run. In spite of this he remains outgoing, friendly, happy and simply LOVES to play fetch. Oso is gentle with treats and will graciously eat with a spoon. He originally came to us from an owner who moved into an apt where he was not allowed to take Oso with him. Oso was cared for by his family in another town and his owner finally decided it was best for Oso to be with people...to be around kids and dogs. Thankfully he reached out before the dreaded threat to 'take him to the shelter'. He was super dirty, full of matting in ears, armpits and tail and during his much needed bathing the ribs and bones just stuck out. Vet found him to weigh in at just 51 POUNDS! He loves his baths and is feeling so much better getting lots of love and food. Unfortunately after Oso was adopted and in spite of successful initial meetings, his new sibling brother wants to be the only dog and isn't taking to Oso as a family member. He needs to find another home where he is accepted and no longer living in a place where he is on edge and occasionally hiding in the shower. His adopter is heart broken because she loves both boys so much but the other dog was there first. She feels it better for Oso to be in a home where he is totally loved and accepted. Let's get Oso rehomed! He is older at 8-9 and deserves to live out his life knowing what true comfort and belly rubs are all about! We know: He LOVES Kids, other dogs and all people. He is sweet and gentle. He is on the smaller size. Oso is a favorite everywhere he goes. He is eager to please and a super quick learner. He is a huge snuggler. He bonds easily and seems to prefer the man of the home to follow. He is house trained but will need to learn your new routine and is so eager to please. Currently he is in a foster in Mission Viejo. He will need a strong leader as he gets attached very quickly and can be protective of his person. Adoption questionnaire is found at www.socalweimrescue.org/pages/adopt NOTE FROM FOSTER 11/20/25! We're working on leash training. He's not aggressive with other dogs but he pulls because he wants to meet everyone we pass. His first week here he was definitely a Velcro dog but as he gets comfortable with my routine he's showing some independence. He'll go outside to sit in the sun or hang out on a bed while I'm moving around the house. He's always waiting by the door when I come home but I know he eats while I'm out. I don't think he sits there the entire time I'm gone. I think he would do well in a house with other dogs. I'm taking him to Merced county with me for the holiday. If by any weird chance there's someone in Central California that wants to meet him next week, let me know.
