About Wiley

Adoption Fee: $25
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Wiley, a 1-year-old Red Heeler (62 lbs) who checks every box for classic Australian Cattle Dog temperament: whip-smart, deeply loyal, energetic, and eager to work. He's not your average pet dog - he's a partner in the making. We're his first-time fosters, and we've been working with a trainer to help Wiley build confidence and learn to self-regulate. It's been amazing to watch him come out of his shell. He's incredibly affectionate and wants nothing more than to be close to his people. And while he definitely has those typical herding-dog bursts of energy, don't be fooled - this boy can nap like a champ. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD Wiley's strengths: %BD%BD%BD'%BD House trained %BD%BD%BD'%BD Crate positive (sleeps there by choice, not locked in) %BD%BD%BD'%BD Rides well in the car %BD%BD%BD'%BD Food motivated and quick to learn %BD%BD%BD'%BD Affectionate and people-oriented %BD%BD%BD'%BD Rope toy-obsessed, zoomie-prone, and proud of it %BD%BD%BD'%BD Loves to nap hard after training or play %BD%BD%BD'%BD Incredibly smart and wants to please %BD%BD%BDs%A0%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%8F Wiley's needs (please read carefully): %BD%BD%BD'%BD Leash reactive - he barks and pulls at other dogs, especially males. We're working on it with a trainer, and he's improving. %BD%BD%BD'%BD Separation anxiety - bonds deeply and has trouble being alone. Needs continued support in this area. %BD%BD%BD'%BD Dog selective - best as an only dog or possibly with a tolerant female. No cats. %BD%BD%BD'%BD Mouthy/jumpy when overstimulated - normal for his age and breed, but may be too much for small kids or seniors. %BD%BD%BD'%BD Strong and sensitive - requires a calm, experienced leader and consistent structure. He's not a beginner dog or a couch potato. He's a working-breed Australian Cattle Dog - and with that comes all the brilliance, intensity, and devotion they're known for. Wiley needs someone who gets it and wants to bring out the best in him. We're not adopting because we recently lost our heart dog, and it's just too soon. But we love Wiley and are fully committed to finding him a home that's the right match - not just any match. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%8D Fostered in Elk Grove, CA %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD Available for in-person meets with serious, breed-savvy adopters (no out-of-state placements) If you or someone you know is looking for a young, promising Australian Cattle Dog who just needs guidance and patience, please message me. Let's find Wiley his person. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD
