About Oreo

Oreo is a midsized (approx. 40 lb) neutered black, white, and brown male, 1 year old Ausky puppy (1/2 Australian Heeler & 1/2 Husky). He is a very curious, happy, and affectionate boy who loves to cuddle, play, run, and hunt. Oreo is very smart, confident, and a quick learner. Oreo would do best with a handler who is active and willing to spend time with him as well as invest time into training him. He has always behaved well with children, adults, dogs and cats. Oreo's mother was a full bred cattle dog and his father was a husky, which are both working breeds so he will need lots of exercise and attention. Oreo has a double coat and would need a home where he can come inside the house on very hot days. He is very food motivated and is eager to please. He will sit for treats, his meal, and eventually to cross threshold's, but he can sometimes be overexcited and is still learning to walk properly on a leash. He generally comes when called, but still needs to learn some of his manners. Oreo can be just a bit shy when meeting new people, but warms up rather quickly. He is potty trained, gets along with most dogs, and would likely be most happy with a playful canine companion. Even though Oreo has a strong prey drive, he has been neutral with our cat. He has always appeared curious and not aggressive toward him. It is likely that he would be able to coexist with a cat in the home, but it would take time and some training to achieve it.
