She has spent her life longing for stability, and now, more than ever, she needs a home - not just for herself, but to give peace to the one person who saved her when no one else would. Baby's story is heartbreaking. She came into the shelter young, after having puppies. But instead of finding comfort, she was placed in a tiny cage at the bottom of the puppy room, where no one noticed her. Day after day, people would overlook her, focusing on the smaller dogs above. Her world shrank to that small space, and her spirit began to break. Out of sadness and stress, Baby would rub her head against the bars, leaving scars that she still carries as a reminder of that dark time. Teenagers would come in, kicking her cage, making her fearful and confused. Her current owner saw her pain and couldn't bear it. She begged the shelter to give Baby a chance, to let her have space, to let her live. But they wouldn't. So she took Baby home to foster her - promising Baby that brighter days were ahead. Sadly, the shelter's promise that Baby could stay in foster care until adoption was broken. The owner was forced to either adopt Baby or send her back to that cold, tiny cage. Of course, she chose love - she couldn't let Baby suffer like that again. Now, that same owner - Baby's hero - is facing a battle she can't win. Her health is failing. And what keeps her up at night is worrying about what will happen to Baby when she's gone. Baby has nowhere to go. But together, we can change that. Baby is sweet, playful, and adores her ball and splashing in water. She's house-trained and only barks when someone unfamiliar is outside. She loves chasing lizards in the yard. She'd thrive best as the only pet in a home with a yard - somewhere she can feel safe, loved, and finally secure. We're not sure how she is with kids or other dogs, but with the right introduction, a calm large male dog might be a possibility. Cats and small animals, though, are a no. If you or someone you know can open your heart and home to Baby, you won't just be saving a dog - you'll be giving peace to a woman who loves her deeply and wants nothing more than to know Baby will be safe and cherished. My greatest weakness is empathy - it's hard for me to turn my back on a dog. I've tried to step back from rescuing since being diagnosed with cancer four years ago. I had major surgery last September and spent two months in the hospital due to complications. But when I was asked to help Baby, I couldn't say no. I know how important it is that she's carefully and properly matched, and my goal is to find her the forever home she truly deserves. Baby needs a loving, committed person or couple who will provide her with care, attention, and affection for the rest of her life - someone who can meet her physical, emotional, and financial needs. Please: privacy-fenced homes only (no chain link). I've promised Baby, and her current owner, that I'll find the right home where she'll be safe and happy - till death do you part. I hope her new family will also stay in touch and let us know how well she's doing. Baby will be your best friend - will you be hers? Baby is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and microchipped (chip stays in my name for her safety - happy to explain). Adoption requirements: phone interview, home check, vet reference, and $350 rehoming fee. Please don't email - I won't see it. Call Heather at 954-534-5606 with any questions or interest. I have more photos and videos and would love to set up a meeting with Baby
