IF you haven't owned a brachiocephalic breed, please do your research before applying. Location Beckley, WV. We are willing to assist with transport for the right family Winston is a sweet, silly fella who loves pretty much everyone he meets as far as humans go. This little bowling ball on four legs can be quite demanding about getting attention and could knock a small child or someone with balance issues over. He prefers laid back female canines and he's pretty good to tolerate dog savvy felines. Although he gets along well with other dogs and some cats, he would prefer a home with fewer animals than his foster home has so he can be the center of attention. His favorite things in life are naps, snacks and snuggles. Winston is a low key kind of guy but does enjoy barking at things with his foster sisters, greeting the neighbors as they come and go, working on his tan when it's not too hot outside, cooling his belly on the wood floors, and roaming the fenced in yard with his girls. He sleeps about 90% of the day, but nothing motivates him quite like a milk bone (or chicken nugget) and a belly rub. He loves to sleep in his crate, in your bed or on the couch for naps, but will put himself to bed in his crate every night. His bedtime is 10:30 p.m. and he sleeps through the night 99% of the time. He's not a morning person, unlike his foster sisters. He likes to sleep in most days and most mornings he has to be coaxed out of his crate to go out for his morning potty break. Although Winston sleeps most of the day, he does prefer to have someone home most of the day. He will stand/sit/lay in front of the door when he wants out and will give a warning bark to signal he needs out, but if you don't see or hear him he may have an accident. Winston only has one eye and is losing vision in the remaining eye. Due to his vision impairment, he tends to bump into things and can confuse inanimate objects for other animals, etc. and may bark at them. Due to this impairment it is also recommended that he not be in a home with smaller children. He will require eye drops the rest of his life. He does well with taking his eye drops although he isn't a fan. He is prone to dry skin on his nose and absolutely loves getting his 'lotion' (bag balm) put on his nose! He has wonderful leash manners and does well on car rides. He loves to be wherever his humans are but tends to stay wherever his crate is (near the door used for potty breaks and within steps of his food/water bowls). Don't let his 'shortcomings' fool you though, this senior boy is a 100% certified good boy! Winston is UTD on vet care, vaccines and preventatives. Due to age and risks that come with surgery, he is not neutered. He is currently being fostered in Beckley, WV. We are willing to assist with transport for the right family. Out of respect for our foster family's time and privacy, we do NOT arrange meet and greet without an approved application on file. His adoption fee is $200.
