MAGGIE MAE is a stunning 1-year-old, 17-pound Cocker Spaniel as sweet as they come. Surrendered due to separation anxiety, she is looking for a home where she can spend lots of time with her people. She's a sweet little girl with a fun-loving spirit and an affectionate nature. MAGGIE MAE is a total lovebug. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body! She's fantastic with kids, loves belly rubs, gives kisses, and will happily jump on the couch just to be near you. She is excited to greet everyone and her tail is always wagging! MAGGIE MAE enjoys other dogs and, once she warms up, will play all day. A home with a doggie friend would be ideal, but she could also thrive as a spoiled only pup with plenty of attention in the right home. We have not had her around cats to know how she would be with them. She is being fostered in a home with a 10 year old boy and is great with him. MAGGIE MAE is potty trained and runs to the door to let you know when she needs to go out. She's also crate trained, though she may playfully make you work a bit to get her inside. Once she's in, she settles just fine. She walks well on a leash and will alert you with a bark if someone's outside. She is a runner and doesn't have reliable recall, so she absolutely must have a secure, fenced yard and be kept on leash when outside of an enclosed area. Her foster mom has been working on basic commands, although MAGGIE MAE tends to think training time is just another excuse to play. Her long ears do require regular brushing and often get tangled and dip into her water bowl. She isn't much for sleeping in the big bed; she prefers to jump down and snooze on the floor nearby. MAGGIE MAE has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida.
