About SKYE

SKYE is a 10-month-old, 7.7 pound Yorkshire Terrier with one blue eye. He is full of love and puppy energy! He was owner-surrendered and is now looking for a forever family to call his own. SKYE is a sweet boy who adores belly rubs, gives the best kisses, and loves to be close to his humans. He's a little shadow, following you from room to room and snuggling up whenever he gets the chance. He has some separation anxiety and is not going to be good spending longer hours without his people. At night, he happily curls up in bed with his foster family. SKYE has energy to burn and should have a securely fenced yard where he can run and play to his heart's content. He enjoys romping with other small dogs and playing with toys and would love a home with another small dog to play with. He has never been an only dog and we believe a home with another dog is in his best interest. SKYE is still learning the ropes when it comes to house training, but he's a smart little guy and will catch on with time and patience. He's not crate-trained yet, and he's still working on potty habits. Positive reinforcement and consistency will be key. He does walk well on a leash and in the right home he would probably be okay without a fenced yard as long as he has a fur friend to help burn off some energy in the home. SKYE is curious and alert, and he'll bark when he hears outside noises or when someone new comes into the house, he takes his job as the alert system seriously! He's comfortable around both men and women, but he does bark when his foster's teenage son enters the room. A quieter, more predictable environment may be best while he continues to build confidence. SKYE has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We do not have a physical facility for visits. To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. Please remember to check your spam folder for any communication from our team. We adopt to homes within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and some dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally. We do not ship or transport our dogs.
