About PAIGE

PAIGE is a 3-year-old, 7.2 pound Maltipoo with a gentle soul and a spirit stronger than most. Though life hasn't been kind to her, she has the most loving nature! She came to us as an owner surrender along with her puppy, Patches. Tragically, within days of their arrival, Patches became sick with parvo. Despite hospitalization and a blood transfusion, he didn't survive. Two days later, Paige tested positive too. We caught it quickly and she battled through, returning to her foster home without her puppy. As if that wasn't enough, this sweet girl was born with a disability called Straight Leg Syndrome. Her back legs don't bend, at all. She gets around just fine, after all she was born that way and doesn't know any different, but she has mastered some interesting yoga poses! She also has an adorable habit of walking on her front legs. (We will post a video in the comments). PAIGE adores people and gets along beautifully with other small dogs. Her foster home is full of furry friends, and Paige fits in perfectly. She's learning how to just be a dog, playing with toys, doing joyful zoomies around the house, and even stealing toys from the toybox to hoard in her bed. She loves cuddles, gives sweet kisses, rides happily in a stroller, and sleeps peacefully in the big bed at night. PAIGE is about 95% housebroken and circles at the back door when she needs to go outside. She has learned how to come in the dog door but hasn't figured out how to go out. Despite her physical challenges, PAIGE is happy, mobile, and full of life. She needs a safe, fenced yard, and would thrive in a calm home with another gentle small dog to snuggle and play with. Because of her special legs, no small children please. She hasn't been tested with cats. PAIGE has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. We adopt to homes within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and some dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally.
