BUDDY is a 2.5-year-old, 6-pound long-haired Chihuahua who came to us from an emergency situation. If you're looking for a gentle, affectionate little guy to be your best friend, Buddy might just be the one! True to his name, BUDDY is the perfect companion dog... loyal, sweet, and happiest when he's close to his person. He loves curling up in a warm lap, but if one's not available, he's perfectly content to snuggle beside you. His favorite way to sleep is completely upside down and sprawled out, and while he's not overly kissy, he's still incredibly affectionate. He has a happy tail that's always wagging. He can be a little timid at times but he loves his people. He'll let out a soft little howl when you leave, just enough to let you know you'll be missed. Buddy has done wonderfully with the other foster dogs in his home, ranging in size from 4 to 40 pounds. He wouldn't do well as an only dog, he truly thrives with a canine companion. If someone wanted to adopt two dogs, Buddy and Mia would be a great pair to bring home! His experience with cats and children is unknown. Since his neuter, BUDDY has made great progress with housebreaking and will use a pee pad if needed. He walks well on a leash, maybe not perfectly, but well enough that even someone new to leash training would find him easy to manage. He rides nicely in a car and could grow to love short adventures as he gets more confident on a leash. At night, BUDDY loves to sleep under the blanket curled up next to his foster mom in the big bed. And here's the best part-he can smile on command! His foster mom is teaching him the word 'cheese' as his smile cue, and he's picking it up beautifully. BUDDY has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
