Romeo is saving this rose for his one true love. He has been slowly healing and coming out of his shell since coming to the shelter. He came in as a stray so we don't know his history but he walks well on leash and recently joined our playgroup and did amazing. Romeo recently spent a long weekend with a foster. Here is their experience with him :) Romeo was a dream to have in our home! He is house trained - no marking and he is kennel trained. He slept eight hours without a peep in his kennel in the family room every night. Didn't even bark or stand up when I came down to get him; he was totally calm. Romeo was a dream to walk! When he saw other dogs, he looked at them and seemed mildly interested, but didn't pull or bark. When encouraged to keep moving, he was happy to do so. He is smart and was very quick to learn things! In just four days, he learned where all the things were in the house - door to go out, treat jar, toy bins, his place on the sofa, etc. I gave him a bath and he stood perfectly still while I lathered and rinsed him. What dog does that?! He respected the baby gate, didn't bolt the doors, took treats gently and was just a very good boy! Disclaimer: It can take months for a rescue animal to recover from the stress of a shelter and show their true selves in their new home, so it`s certainly possible that Romeo`s behavior would change over time, but during his short vacation at our house he showed us that he has all the makings of an amazing best friend!
