LOCATION: Phenix City, AL DOB: 05/25/2019 Roxy Marie is a beautiful merle Great Dane looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home. She needs a new place to land after incidents involving livestock, so a home without access to farm animals is essential. Roxy gets along well with dogs of all sizes and is also good with cats. While she has lived with children, she does not tolerate rough or sudden handling, such as being startled while sleeping or having a child hang on her. She gives clear warning growls, and if those are ignored, she may offer a small warning nip. For this reason, we are requiring a home with teens or adults only. Her current home has had no issues in the past two years, likely due to the children maturing and respecting her space. She is housebroken, leash trained, crate trained, rides well in the car, and knows basic obedience. Roxy has completed extensive training and holds an advanced obedience certification. She is very well trained and responsive to commands. However, she can jump fences, especially if she senses nearby chickens, so she should not be left unattended outdoors. Roxy is affectionate and devoted. She loves to cuddle, is mostly laid-back, and will stick close to her person like a shadow. She is AKC registered, though her breeder could not be located despite efforts to contact them. She is mostly up to date on vaccinations, and her records will be reviewed and completed upon intake.
