About HIGH RISK Virgil

Bulldog mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Virgil is a handsome American bulldog mix defined by belly rubs and butt wiggles! He is about 6-years-old and a nice, small-ish size at just 53 pounds. Aptly, his name partly means 'fresh beginnings.' After time in a shelter, he started his new journey with training and a caring foster family. He is now well-understood and ready for his forever home. Virgil is rather low maintenance. He loves a small world and a simple life. His favorite pastime is hanging out with his person or family and doing whatever they are doing. Virgil loves swimming and wading, and going out on 'Sunday' drives any day of the week. Move over Miss Daisy! Like any story, he has two sides. His lovely mellow side is always set to love o'clock with lots of cuddle time, TV time, and nap time. His mild active side is all about playing fetch with any object at hand. Besides chasing after things, he is a keen observer of nature, and definitely takes time to smell the roses. Though he loves taking walks, Virgil is perfectly content spending outdoor time in a nice backyard. Aerobic fetch sessions and fun training games satisfy his physical and mental needs. He also loves to learn new things! His expression shows just how happy he is to accomplish a task and receive a treat. This love of treats comes in handy when introducing him to new people. He needs to take things slowly. When someone new approaches with treats and lets him make the first move, voila! He's a happy boy who will sit, lay down, or shake hands'|and eventually go belly up. Virgil thrives in a quiet environment. He is frightened by loud noise and chaos. He just needs time to know things are safe. With your gentle time and patience, you'll earn a coveted four-paws up. He requires a single-family home with a privacy fenced-yard. No dogs or cats. Virgil can walk past dogs from across the street, but he does not like to engage with them - at all! A neighborhood without lots of dog walking traffic is best. Older kids/teens considered.
