About JIMINY

JIMINY is a 1.5-year-old cream-colored Shih Tzu with a heart full of love and energy to match. This handsome 15.5-pound boy is full of life! JIMINY is very affectionate and craves attention. It's clear he just wants to be loved. That said, he's still learning some boundaries. He tends to get underfoot and has picked up a playful habit of nipping at the backs of legs, which his foster mom is working to correct. He's both mischievous and sweet. JIMINY gets along with most other dogs, but he'd do best in a home with female dogs around his size. He's a bit too rough with smaller pups, simply because he doesn't yet understand how to be gentle, and bigger dogs scare him. He sleeps happily in the big bed with the other dogs and is starting to enjoy toys. He especially likes stealing them and running off like he's pulled off the greatest heist! JIMINY loves to run and play, so a home with a fenced-in yard is a must for him. He uses a dog door like a pro and loves the freedom it gives him. He's still learning some of the house rules and would benefit from basic obedience and potty training, but he's smart and eager to please. With a consistent routine, he's sure to thrive! JIMINY hasn't been tested with cats or young children, but he'd likely do well with kids over 8 years old who can keep up with his energy and won't be easily knocked over by his playful nature. Our guess is that he would be very cat curious and may chase a cat. JIMINY has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is still a work in progress, but with the right home, he's going to make someone an incredible companion. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We do not have a physical facility for visits. To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. Please remember to check your spam folder for any communication from our team. We adopt to homes within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and some dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally. We do not ship or transport our dogs.
