HARDEE - A Loving Pup Ready for His Forever Home HARDEE is a 3-year-old, 17.2-pound Chihuahua mix who's overcome a tough start to life and blossomed into a sweet, affectionate companion. Abandoned by a homeless person and left to survive on the streets, HARDEE's early days were filled with uncertainty-and likely abuse. When HARDEE first came to us, he was scared and reactive. With the help of a professional behaviorist and a patient, loving foster home, he's made incredible progress. His early biting incidents were fear-based, and as he's learned that people can be kind, those behaviors have disappeared. He still flinches if approached too quickly, especially around his head, but once he trusts you, HARDEE is all heart. This brave little guy loves snuggling in blankets, sitting in laps, learning new things, and soaking up affection. He's a kissy, cuddly lovebug who just wants to feel safe and adored. He can be nervous around new people and visitors, so slow introductions and a calm, confident owner are essential. HARDEE needs someone who will help him feel secure while gently guiding him when he's feeling anxious or protective. HARDEE should not be placed in a home with children, and he doesn't do well with male dogs. However, he enjoys the company of calm female dogs around his size and would love a gentle dog buddy to play with. He's playful and full of personality-he loves tug-of-war, hide-n-seek, zoomies, and going on walks (which he lives for!). He's 100% housebroken and loves to go on runs with his foster family. We are looking for a home with a fenced yard. At night, HARDEE either sleeps in his own bed or cuddled up in the big bed with his foster family-he never misses a chance for a warm 'good morning' snuggle. HARDEE has had a rough journey, but he's full of love and loyalty for the right person. If you're experienced, patient, and ready to offer a safe, stable home, HARDEE is ready to love you with his whole heart. HARDEE has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. We are a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola FL and adopt within a 6-hour drive to Pensacola. Local applicants will be given first consideration. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments and dogs with behavioral issues are local adoption only. We review multiple applications for each dog and pick the best fit.
