About Akins (cell dog)

Akins has completed our comprehensive 8-week basic obedience training program designed for dogs. Throughout the course, he focused on mastering fundamental commands that are essential for good behavior and communication, including 'sit,' 'stay,' 'come,' 'leave it,' 'down,' and 'heel.' In addition to these commands, Akins engaged in crate training, which helps him feel secure and comfortable in his designated space. He also learned leash training techniques to walk calmly and obediently by his handler's side, fostering a more enjoyable walking experience. To further enhance his social skills, Akins interacted with other dogs and people in a controlled environment, allowing him to build confidence and learn appropriate social behaviors. Overall, this program is designed to ensure that Akins grows into a well-mannered and well-adjusted companion. Akins has completed his training and is ready for his new home. Please note that we are not a no-kill shelter, and we must make tough decisions regarding animals who are ill or aggressive. **Adoption Fees:** - $165 for dogs under 5 years old - $100 for dogs over 5 years old - $200 for cell dogs. Your adoption fee covers vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella), microchipping, heartworm and Lyme testing, rabies vaccination, spay/neuter, and a dog license. All dogs must be spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter; if this hasn't been done, we'll schedule an appointment for you. **Payment:** We accept cash only-no checks, debit, or credit cards please.
