Adoption Fee is negotiable. Meet Kolohe (pronounced kuh-lo-heh, Hawaiian for 'rascal' or 'mischievous') Kolohe is a 3-year-old Boxer-Pit mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He's goofy, affectionate, and highly energetic - a dog who thrives on physical activity, mental stimulation, and structured routine. His favorite things include tug-of-war, puzzle toys, stuffed animals, shoulder massages, running full speed on his treadmill, and sunbathing by a window. He even enjoys watching his favorite dog TV channel! Kolohe is very vocal and expressive, and once his needs are met, he loves to cuddle like a giant, weighted blanket. He bonds deeply with his people and is smart, quick to learn, and thrives on consistency. He does have some special needs. Kolohe has a history of reactivity, food guarding, and anxiety. He is muzzle-trained and takes gabapentin and trazodone to help manage his anxiety. He is kennel-trained, but during high-stress moments - especially if left alone without medication - he has attempted to break out of his crate. Secure containment and a calm environment help reduce these behaviors. He also has a healed shoulder injury from before he was rescued that doesn't require treatment but may be worth monitoring long-term. Kolohe would thrive in a home with no other pets, no young children, and with an experienced, patient owner who can offer structure, continued training, and plenty of exercise. He's not a beginner dog, but with the right match, Kolohe has so much love and potential to offer.
