About Mia

[Case opened on 4/17/25]. ST. MARY'S, OHIO (will the drive up to 2 hours to meet). 7.5 Y/O AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD/HUSKY (DOB:6/16/17). Her name is 'MIA '. Background: Current Shepherd Parent rescued Mia about a year ago. UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. Good with kids. Good with dogs. Good with cats. House trained. Crate trained. No known medical issues. HIGH ENERGY. HIGH PREY DRIVE. Currently on 'Purina Pro Plan Chicken and Rice Adult' food. Weighs 65 lbs. Good with car rides. Loves: To snuggle - back scratches - head rubs - to be brushed - to be vacuumed with the grooming vacuum - treats - rubber spikey toys, she will spend hours picking off the spikes and then spit them out on the floor - laying in bed - car rides - playing fetch - Outside Time - kids. Personality: Alpha female. Leary of Males. Mia has had Obedience Training but she is a stubborn girl at times. She is very intelligent and knows Basic Commands. She is used to being on a Lead and not used to being on a leash. She does have a possible Abuse History, she startles easily if you come up too quickly on her. She is an Alpha Female, so she would get along best with more submissive dogs in the home. She is leery of human males. She takes a bit to warm up to them. She does not like her tail to be touched. The Current Shepherd Parent rescued Mia from another family who were court ordered to find Mia another home for killing the Neighbor's chickens. The Current Shepherd Parent has chickens also and has witnessed Mia just trying to play with them, treating them like a fluffy squeaky toy. She picks them up and carries them but she has never been violent and has never attacked or ate them. She rescued Mia to Foster her until her Furever Home was found. She did try to keep her, but her male dog in the house and Mia fight and it's becoming more frequent. They are both Alphas. Mia is a Runner. She will take off any chance she gets and will be gone for hours, but has always come back. She needs someone that will be able to Boundary Train her immediately and train her to stay on the property, preferably with a fenced in property. Mia is a very sweet girl and will be an amazing companion for the right person. Who can take this sweet girl and allow her to live out the rest of her remaining years in Peace, Love and Comfort?
