NO INTEREST IN ROME SO HE HAS AN APPOINTMENT TO BE GIVEN TO THE SHELTER AND IT IS ON THAT DAY THAT THIS OLDER GENTLEMEN'S SPIRIT WILL DIE... He's a really good boy - it's just that he can't seem to get along with the unneutered male in the house TRANSPORT IS AVAILABLE FOR A GOOD OUT OF STATE HOME He's been with his person through thick and thin. The loss of her spouse, illness, injury and recovery and wherever else life took her. He never left her side. But now things are different. She's met a man and they are making a life together. When she moved in with this man, they found that Rome and his unneutered male just couldn't get along and the situation is just too stressful to continue so she's been looking for a new home for Rome since September. All of those that did inquire were not the right fit. The couple is going out of town at the end of April and they don't feel they have any other option so they made an appointment at the shelter to relinquish Rome to whatever ever happens. Rome is an 8 year old neutered, Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix. Up until last year, Rome was his person's constant and loyal companion when she was at her lowest. But now that she's moved in with her boyfriend things are different. He has 3 dogs, one which is an unneutered male who Rome does not get along with. Rome was raised with and did fine with a female Pit Bull, a cat and 3 ducks all in the same house. He has not been around male dogs until recently. She did contact trainers and finally settled on Charisma Johnston of Ready Set Canine but that turned into a horribly traumatic experience for poor Rome. Left at the training academy Rome was tortured, starved (he lost 30 lbs.) and abused. His rear right foot and leg was seriously injured, and he suffered a hole in his left shoulder (which has healed). She has taken court action against the trainer but that will never change what Rome suffered. My heart breaks for this boy. He needs us and deserves to find a forever home where he can feel safe. He loves to lay by your feet when you watch TV, loves being brushed, and of course playing with his ball. He is in heaven riding in the back seat of a car with the window rolled down, so he can bark at cows, people, etc. He also loves to go for walks. He is a wonderful companion. Please spread the word for Rome so his heart doesn't get broken yet again..
