TOBY is a 2 year old, 16.8 pound Shih Tzu surrendered to us to find a more suitable home. He was very sad at being surrendered and it took him a few weeks to get over the loss of his family but now he is a happy sweet little guy! TOBY will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for loving, loyal lap dog. He is very affectionate and enjoys having lots of attention. He stays close to his foster mom, napping nearby when she is working and sharing a couch with her during down time. He takes a minute to warm up to strangers but he's had a lot of change in his life so that's to be expected! Once his foster mom lets him know everything is okay and he has a chance to observe the new person, he is perfectly fine. TOBY gets along well with other dogs and loves to play and chase with one of the dogs in his foster home. We believe he would be happiest in home with another small dog. We have not had him around cats or kids. TOBY loves, loves to play with toys. If his foster mom can't throw them for him, he will get them out of the toy basket and throw them up in the air, and take them up and down the hall all by himself. While he is fairly active, he also enjoys relaxing. TOBY was well potty trained before he came to us. In fact, he has not had an accident in his foster home since he's been here. If he needs to go out, he will go to the back door and scratch on it and maybe give a tiny little bark. He will also sometimes just bounce up and down until the door is opened. TOBY walks well on a leash and gets excited when he knows he is going for a walk. He also rides well in the car. He is very curious about the things that are happening outside of his fenced yard and we believe that if he had an opportunity he would try to go on an adventure, with or without his person! At night TOBY sleeps snuggled in the big bed with his foster mom and foster fur siblings. TOBY has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
