Urgent Rehome Needed: Meet J-Pua (James), His owners of 3 years surrendered him to the HSPPR, with minimal information: 1. they could no longer keep up with his allergies,2. J-Pua's former owner's got a new puppy, they said that he growled and pinned such puppy down. In our experience James interactions with other dogs has been that he wants to play, no growling, mounting etc..., After about a month of being in our home, something drastically changed. He became super aggressive towards my son, and after a near attack, where my son could have lost his whole face, I decided we could not keep him. No animal is above my child. I did tell the HSPPR what had taken place, and that we were essentially lied to, as his paperwork indicated he was good with children, and the horrific scene I saw I couldn't imagine that happening to another family. However, we were called that they were going to euthanize him. His prior owners did not want to be contacted. We couldn't see putting down a perfectly healthy, trained animal, who is loving and just a giant teddy bear (He would just lay and cuddle all day if he could). J-Pua is command trained, Potty/crate trained, non-destructive, he does not chew anything unless he is given it and knows it is his. He is great with us adult humans, and older child 14, but with my toddler and cat he is not The morning of his planned euthanization, we went for him, after making calls, to people, places etc. we never planned to keep him we had 3 options of where he was going to go, and all 3 fell through. Within less than 24 hours of being back in our home, he has unprovoked growled/barked at my son, with us less than 10 feet away (3x's). We purchased kennels, gates, reluctantly a shock collar with the idea of only using noise and vibration, and extremely close monitoring even more than before. However, we cannot keep living this way. It is tearing our family apart, but he is not suited for us. If we cannot find a place for him, we will have to make the toughest, gut-wrenching decision that is safest for our child. What he needs: Someone that will care for him properly, and can upkeep on his needed diet, and allergies. Somebody who will continue my training, A home without other animals., A home without small children I know this may be a lot to ask for some people, but I also know he is worth it.
