About Little Bits Urgent

Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

This post is going out with a Hail Mary for sweet senior Little Bits , I just needed to post her to try to get her seen ! Statics show that black dogs get less adoptions just like black cats !! Please let's defy that and get this sweet baby out , she doesn't deserve to die !!! The shelter is full and Little Bit is on the chopping block for being both a senior and a black dog !!! She has great dog meets and so so friendly . If you can help either by fostering or adopting please text Kat 516 457-3678 Below is her bio from FB , Run to the rescue where love and peace will follow. Little Bits ACCT-A-174551 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Little Bits must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by MONDAY, OCTOBER 7TH at 10AM. Should Little Bits's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Little Bits, a sweet and timid older girl who found her way to the shelter on 9/13 after being left behind when her owner moved. She's looking for a quiet, comfy home where she can relax and enjoy her golden years. Little Bits has been fearful since arriving at the shelter, so is looking for a home with no children. She is estimated to be about 6 years old and appears to be in good health other than some minor issues with her skin and joints. If you have room in your heart and home for this gentle soul, Little Bits would love to meet you! Due to her length of stay at the shelter, Little Bits is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter. BEHAVIOR: *NEW* Per volunteer 10/5: Little bits was a joy to have out! Easy to handle and did so great at the photoshoot. So tolerant and sweet. Per staff 9/18: Little Bits did well outside today and was friendly, soliciting attention and leaning in for pets. Per volunteer 9/17: [Positive interaction with another dog through a fence.] So sweet and easy to handle. Warms up quickly with treats! Likes head rubs. Per volunteer 9/15: Easy to get out of her kennel. She pottied as soon as we got outside. She likes treats and takes them gently. She is timid but wants to trust. She will walk over for pets and did give kisses. She was non-reactive to a passing dog. Sweet older girl. Per volunteer 9/15: Clip method [to remove leash], very shy, aloof. 9/14 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Little-Bits was curled up on her bed when the handler approached and she looked up with semi hard eyes. When the handler opened the kennel door she came over with low wags and soft eyes, once the leash was secured she came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING: Little-Bits came outside for her eval with neutral eyes and a wagging tail. She hesitantly took treats and flinched and tried to run off when the handler touched her back. Everytime the handler tried to get her attention she would retreat and hide. She was offered the treats but didn't take them. The handler tried to pet her again and she gave some whale eyes and tensed up- flinching everytime the handler tried to pet her (mind you, she seems to have some very bad skin issues). She tolerated some chin scratches but gave some lip licks and immediately stiffened up. With time and patience, Little-Bits seems like she would warm up. While she was outside she did give some signals of solicitation but retreated in fear. PLAY Did not attempt TOYS: Did not attempt
