About Rocky Max

ROCKY MAX is a handsome 7 year old, 13.8 pound long haired Dachshund who was surrendered to us when his family lost their housing. ROCKY MAX is a very loving boy who would be perfect for someone looking for a sweet, loyal companion! He follows his person everywhere and likes to snuggle up on the chair or sofa next to you. When his foster family leaves the house he patiently sits on a chair or the couch and greets them happily when they return. Rocky Max gets along well with the other small dogs in his foster home and is having a blast running and doing zoomies with them around the yard. He was an only dog before he came to us but he is really enjoying having canine companionship! He is doing pretty well with his potty training and knows how to use a doggy door. Like many male dogs in a new home, he does have a tendency to mark and his foster family is working on that. At night Rocky Max will either sleep in the bed with you or in a dog bed, but he's happiest in the bed with his person! He has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. MORE about ROCKY MAX: He has not been around cats or kids since we have had him. We think he would be okay with older kids (10+) who are familiar with small dogs. He is pretty typical of his breed and alerts when someone comes to the door or the other dogs start barking. He likes treats and knows how to walk on a leash. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments and dogs with behavioral issues are local adoption only. We review multiple applications for each dog and pick the best fit.
