Meet Blu. Approximately 2 y/o GSP/ Blue-tick Coonhound Mix Blu is a great adventure partner and needs space to roam. He is loving with children and dogs. Loves to play. Loves to snuggle. He is a big puppy at heart. We adopted Blu last year from a shelter in Duluth. Our lifestyle was a great fit for him, but recently my wife and I took in my 2 cousins in the foster care system. He is great with the kids, but Our life style has changed and we no longer have the ability to give Blu the attention/ exercise/ training this dog needs and deserves. He is fully potty trained, kennel trained, and e-collar trained. Behaviors you should know- -He is no longer allowed in our kitchen as his nose can get him in trouble with human food His constant command is 'blanket' to go to his bed. He obeys. -He is hit or miss with letting me trim his nails. -Has food possessiveness. - can be protective/aggressive with his food %81 Not allowed to have ultra stinky treats (ie-pig ears, bone marrow bones)- he DOES let me touch and pickup his food bowl while he is eating , but is fed separate from our other dog. -Headstrong/stubborn IF YOU LIVE IN AND URBAN SETTING AND CANNOT GIVE BLU MANY MILES OF EXERCISE A DAY, HE IS NOT FOR YOU. When Blu gets the exercise and attention he needs, he is an angel dog. Blu has been training for grouse hunting on the North Shore where we are located. Although he has pointed a few times, his hound is predominant, and is a chaser. He would be great as a coon dog or pheasant. He would fit in great on a farm or such. We are heart broken to have come to this decision, but we are hoping to meet someone that can give Blu that life he deserves. I fully understand that he has some concerning behaviors, but I do believe with this knowledge and correct attention and training he can thrive.
