About Ivy

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Shepherd / Border Collie
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

Ivy was found with her littermates and parents in the woods in Oklahoma. They caught everybody and put them into Holmes. I adopted her for my mom Who lives in California, but by the time I got out there with her my mom had hurt her hip so bad she is going to need surgery. So I brought Ivy home with me and decided to find her someone else since my mom's recovery is going to be a long one. So Ivy did a 6000 mile road trip with me right from the get-go. She did amazing! I couldn't believe how calm and relaxed she was in my truck driving all day. And then when it was time to sleep overnight in the horse trailer, she did that well too. For a young pup she adjusted extremely well. She ate really well and she also learned very quickly how to ask for water while driving. I have a special dog water bottle and she learned how to drink out of it immediately. Very smart girl! The main issue I've had with her is she is afraid of strangers. Everywhere I go I bring treats with me and people are happy to feed her them. Once she gets a couple of treats she is in their pocket. She has bonded to me extremely well, and while I would love to keep her I do way too many road trips and often fly home in between so there won't be room for her. She is not going to be a large dog. She's 25 pounds at five months old. She's up-to-date on all her vaccinations including rabies, she's been spayed, and she does well on a leash and also tethered.
