Courtesy Posting: AGOURA/LA COUNTY SHELTER, CA (S CAL)- ID #A5581517 X URGENT - ADOPTABLE, SHELTER FAVORITE 54 lb 'MAZAPAN' HAS BEEN TOTALLY OVERLOOKED, POSSIBLY DUE TO BEING A GORGEOUS BLEND OF SEVERAL BREEDS (SHEPHERD, HUSKY AND POSSIBLY SOME CHOW THAT GIVES HIM A CALMER DISPOSITION). - GOOD W/ PEOPLE AND OTHER DOGS. HE IS IN NEED OF A LOVING, FOREVER HOME, OR FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP - WHO CAN HELP? SWEET, ADOPTABLE BOY EXPECTED TO BE ON DEADLINE AND EUTH LIST SOON DUE TO TIME AND SHELTER BEING FULL!! Please help us find a good home or foster and rescue for this wonderful boy who the Carson shelter fondly named Mazapan. He is now at the Agoura shelter however after someone adopted him and then he was found abandoned and waiting on a doorstep. According to this finder, as posted in the video she made, she said he is an amazing dog but she could not keep him due to having four other dogs of her own. The finder then went to the home he was chipped to only to discover inhumane conditions and the owner was arrested, but poor Mazapan ended up also being imprisoned again now at the Agoura Shelter with no one to take care of him. Please refer to video: https://www.facebook.com/reel/24798648619782256 Prior to this, the Carson shelter had been asking for help with his placement asap as the shelter is full and has many great things to say about him, 'Mazapan is a strikingly handsome young 5-year-old shepherd mix with eye-catching blonde fur and multi colored eyes, he also has a glowing personality as a very social dog that enjoys the company of both people and dogs. He loves being walked and is very easy to walk on a leash without issue and would be a good candidate as a first time dog for a new adopter. He enjoys gentle petting and loves attention and affection and is very well mannered overall. He has been to outside adoption events and did very well but has been unfortunately overlooked here in the kennels. Please help us is finding a home or rescue placement for this beautiful, well rounded dog that would thrive in just about any setting.' Even after waiting for months, and finally taken into playgroup, he still has a nice disposition and further notes state, 'Mazapan was at the front of the kennel when the runner arrived. He had a relaxed body posture, a relaxed tail wag, soft eyes, a closed mouth, and his natural ear set. He licked his lips and tapped his feet while standing at the door. The runner was able to leash him with ease and he exited the kennel on his own. He walked with a slight pull, greeting most of the dogs in the kennels. When the runner continued to move along, Mazapan would follow her over to the yard. He had a loose body posture and a loose tail wag. Inside the catch pen, he was easy to collar. During gate greetings, he was appropriate and therefore was allowed into the yard. While entering the play yard, he approached to greet the other dogs and exchanged proper greetings. After some time in the yard, Mazapan would follow and remain close with the dogs throughout the yard, continuing to pursue socializing. He continued to walk around with a calm and mellow demeanor. After keeping to himself, he would approach to re-engage with the dogs on his own. He appeared interested in sticking to the areas where the dogs were. He would notice the dogs playing and offer play bows to them. He ran around playing brief spurts of push/pull but when dogs made contact, he stopped. He showed no concerning behavior throughout his assessment and remained displaying an overall mellow and well-mannered disposition. Mazapan had a medium energy level, a gentle/dainty playstyle and is social with the other dogs. He is okay for public adoption. Large dogs are OK.' We feel Mazapan has been overlooked because he does not look any one particular breed. We believe he has some husky with those gorgeous blue eyes, and some chow due to his pigmented tongue, that gives him some nice chow qualities that people love. Mazapan is listed as 5 years young and has no reported medical issues. He was found as a stray but neutered, and thus is ready to go home. We have wonderful a nice video posted on facebook of Mazapan so you can see his gentle demeanor: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid01Jpa7Ykit7iM7VMzUh6sudkLXitncr1MDn64yPpYjbVrwVMKDxMUkM4dCM3ZnLhLl&id=783968124 If you can help Mazapan to adopt or rescue, this is his listing link to reach the shelter: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/LACO5/A5581517 or call (818) 991-0071 and email the shelter at: [email protected] asap and note his ID.
