About RUSTY

Adoption Fee: $225
Pit Bull / Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

***NEEDS FUREVER HOME*** Currently in Twin Falls, ID Thanks to the patience of a dedicated foster family, we are learning more about 2 year old RUSTY while he heals from his physical, and likely emotional scars, from being dumped in a canyon to fend for himself. RUSTY is living with a family that includes five kids, youngest is 7 years old. He does great with the kids, but is starting to show some interest in the chickens. RUSTY is fully house-trained and does well in his crate (knows 'kennel up') RUSTY is super interested in what's going on around him and enjoys looking out the window and following his people the house. He loves to snuggle up on the couch and will give you a million kisses while you love on him. RUSTY hates the snow/rain and it's a little bit of a battle to get him to go out sometimes, but he does like being outside when it's warm and sunny (typical pittie!). RUSTY shows no interest in escaping the yard. RUSTY does not show any resource guarding of his food, but gets a little impatient if you withhold his treats...What do you expect from a dog that went without food for so long on his own. The foster family is slowly increasing his food intake to help him gain some much-needed weight after his ordeal. RUSTY was not sure what a car ride included and showed some anxiety; however, he has figured out that they mean that he gets to go for walks which he loves. He will need some training for loose-leash walking. Doesn't RUSTY sound like a pawsome dog!?? He gets his drains out late next week. https://www.friendsfureveranimalrescue.com/dog-adoption-application BACKGROUND: This poor dog was dumped in a canyon to fend for himself. He was found emaciated with large wounds to his neck and abdomen. A Good Samaritan hiking Rock Creek Park walked him out of the area and immediately to Healing Hands Small Animal Emergency Hospital, Twin Falls. A dedicated foster opened up their home and hearts to this poor guy so that FFAR could rescue him.
