Despite a tough start in life, this resilient fellow is ready to begin a new, happier chapter with a devoted family. Luke's Journey: Rescued from a neglectful neighbor who failed to provide even the most basic necessities, he was discovered in a pitiful state-skinny, infested with worms, and left to fend for himself without shade, food, or water. His early life was marked by hardship, but his spirit remained unbroken. his desire for connection led him to escape his awful home several times, seeking the love and care he deserved. Thankfully, his fortunes changed when his current owner, a neighbor, took him in, offering him the love, care, and security he needed. With her dedication and nurturing touch, Luke has transformed into a healthy and exuberant fellow. However, his ability to escape remains strong, and his new owner worries about his safety. He can easily clear a 6-foot wooden fence, a skill he honed out of necessity. Luke's Personality: Despite his past, this beautiful boy is a gentle giant with a love for other dogs and a playful demeanor that is very endearing. He gets along well with children, happily joining them on the trampoline for fun and exercise. His energy and affection make him the perfect playmate for kids of 12+. A home without small children is recommended due to his exuberance and strength. While he may chase smaller animals like cats, turkeys, ducks, chickens, and guineas, he has never harmed them. His intentions have been purely playful. He is housebroken, leash trained, crate trained, and knows basic obedience commands. However, he has picked up some bad habits based on his early years of insecurity. These habits are: dumpster diving and counter surfing. He has also been known to chew dog beds and isn't a fan of pedicures. Despite these quirks, his potential to become a perfect family member is still undeniable. Luke's Training and Needs: Luke is a pro when it comes to basic training and does well in his crate when his humans are not home. He is working on mastering leash manners and needs a secure environment to prevent him from escaping. His protective nature and initial wariness towards men require patient and understanding introductions, but once he knows he's safe, his loyalty and affection shine through.
