About Mitch

German Shepherd mix
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Mitch!! POST UPDATED Just a shy guy looking for his new family. Mitch is an approx. 18 week old male. He appears to be shepherd mix. He is a big puppy but isn't growing as fast as his siblings. He will likely be a medium to large dog. He currently weighs 28 pounds. He has been dewormed, given several sets of vaccines, a microchip, and neutered.**He is never tied outside alone. The long line in the photos was used to help him feel more secure to potty in his previous foster home and they were always outside with him** When Mitch arrived, he was extremely shy and scared. He has really come out of his shell. He's spunky and fun. Happy to see everyone and that shy side is melting away. He is now almost fully potty trained. He has some accidents still but we are seeing fewer and fewer. He was doing a nervous pee at times and that has become rare now as well. Mitch has been great with other dogs. He loves running and playing with the pack of dogs at his foster home. He does great with large and small dogs. He has also been fostered with cats and does well with them. He has not been fostered with kids but we suspect he would do really well. He's super sweet and loving toward everyone. He is crate trained and quiet in the crate. He is scared but otherwise does well on car rides. Not yet fully leash trained due to being a bit afraid of it but he's making progress. No issues sharing food treats or toys with humans or other dogs. Mitch has a medium energy level. He loves playing and running in the yard but also has no problem staying home during a full work day while you're gone. He needs daily exercise but isn't overly hyper. He does need a fenced yard due to his leash fears. He was not able to make progress potty training without the fence. It gives him the comfort and confidence he needs to be happy and feel safe. He listens fairly well and comes when you call him. He really likes to be glued to your side. Super snuggly and cuddly. He loves toys and bones. He will collect them all in his crate or bed. Overall Mitch is an excellent puppy. He's a really good boy and we can tell he's going to be an amazing dog for one lucky family! Adopting a young puppy is a ton of work. They will have lots of potty accidents, chew things up etc. You will need to help them learn things like leash walking, crate training and basic manners. It can be a lot of work but the reward is a dog that fits well into your family's lifestyle if you invest proper time on training with them. Please carefully consider the time and effort a puppy requires before adopting. Vet and home checks required. Fenced yard required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) '%BC%8FPlease message [email protected] directly with questions or to get an application.'%BC%8F
