About Gnarly

Adoption Fee: $100
Rottweiler
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Gnarly needs a new home. His a strikingly good-looking, 2.5-year-old, 85 lb. RottDog who loves to train and hang out. He is neutered, microchipped, house/crate trained, and UTD on all vet care. He is very responsive to training and knows basic commands, sit, down, place, wait, leave it, easy, etc. He is very gentle taking snacks and treats. Gnarly has been with us (two adults and two Welsh Terriers - Agent 13 and Roxy 9) for just over a year. He immediately took to Roxy and treats her like his best friend - they chase each other, and he lets her gnaw on him like a chew toy. Unfortunately, he can bully Agent when they are all outside together, but thankfully has never hurt him. He is also extremely loyal and protective of his spaces (house, car, etc.) and will require socialization and training to decrease his possessiveness/resources guarding tendencies - he can be uncertain around people he does not know and barks/greets everyone (including us) who pulls up to the house. That said, during some house remodeling my contractor left the gate open and Gnarly unknowingly escaped his fenced yard. Later that day I got a call from my UPS driver who was petting him in the driveway - no barking or aggressive behavior. All the good - he loves attention, is gentle, calm, motivated, goofy, dedicated, and will sleep on the bed, in his crate, on the floor, his bed, on the couch, or wherever we are hanging out. He is comfortable both inside and outside, but predominantly sleeps inside. Gnarly is content to follow us around and just hang out. He'll crawl up on the couch like and curl up like a cat if you let him. Due to his size and possessiveness traits, an adult family and/or confident personality is recommended. Gnarly senses when someone is uncomfortable and uncertain about him and responds similarly. He is calm, confident, courageous, and extremely loyal, but doesn't make friends with people immediately or indiscriminately. Instead, he takes more of a wait-and-see approach. Once he gets to know you he is a big ol' baby. Likewise, he has also been extremely friendly to those who met him for the first time and acted like they'd known him forever - including children and young adults - the few times he's been around them. The Why? My personal situation has changed, and I will be traveling overseas for the next few years. I do not want him growing up at a kennel and will not have time to give him the exercise, socialization, and training he deserves. Please contact me to schedule a meet and greet if you are interested in adopting this amazing young ruffian. Additional pictures and videos available upon request.
