About Kyra

Hi there, I'm Kyra, and I pretty much have a 'Lady and the Tramp' story to tell. I'm a 9-year-old, 60-pound cur mix, looking for a new family who can love me for who I am. I used to have a family, but they didn't understand me. I lived with three little girls who I adored, and I would do anything to protect them. One day, one of the other dogs in the house bit one of my girls, and I couldn't let that happen. She immediately became a trigger for me and I attacked her. Instead of being praised, I was punished. My family wanted to put me down, but a kind group of people saved me and took me to a foster home. Please know, I had lived happily with my family, including the dog I fought with and another, for years. After this incident, I still got along with the third dog. I don't typically guard against other dogs. It was just a poor situation all around. This is my Lady and the Tramp story. I'm a good girl, I promise. I'm spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and house/crate/leash trained. I'm friendly and sweet, and I love to run, play, and cuddle. I'm good with kids and cats, and I can get along with other dogs if they are nice to me and others. Because of the recent incident, I will likely need slow introductions to new dogs at least for a while. I can be standoffish and bark at men, but I usually warm up to them after a few minutes.
