About Winter

Adoption Fee: $50
Great Pyrenees mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

I was able to have Winter a little over a month. She is a very calm, playful, and gentle dog. During the first two weeks, when it was just us, she quickly got attached to me and was by my side at all times. She absolutely loved the snowstorm. She showed how loving, loyal, and sweet she is. When my roommate, who is in vet school, and his cat came back home after being gone, it was an adjustment, but we wanted to try and get everyone used to each other. The biggest test was to see how things would go on our normal schedule, when we were at school. Unfortunately, after a lengthy discussion with my roommate, we agreed that I had to let her go because of her not being able to get used to my roommate and his cat because of his schedule. Due to the lack of time/money/resources he and I have, and will have for the remainder of our schooling, it would be difficult properly train. If circumstances allowed, I would have gotten any training she needed. I looked into many possible solutions, but was not able to find one that could work to accommodate a vet student and a PhD students' schedules and time. I only had her for a month but I absolutely love her to death. Even for a month, she herself was really great for my mental health and showed we had a strong bond. She has a sweet soul and loves all the affection she can get. If you shower her with love, she will listen to you and love you ten times back. She did very well with male and female friends who would come by to meet her. At first she was hesitant towards men, but overtime that resided towards visitors. She let strangers pet her, and has shown to be very playful with non aggressive dogs/smaller dogs. With these she was always so affectionate. She LOVES peanut butter in her Kong toy, and a big bone to gnaw on. She loves walks, sitting outside in the fenced yard, and chasing a ball or rope I throw. Then she wants you to chase her too. She will sit watch over you and the household all night. She knows how to say she needs to go outside, and she started learning how to sit. She does not bark unless she feels provoked. She's like a lion and a lamb. With a little more time, patience, and compassion, she will be the sweetest Pyrenees one could ask for.
