About Nelson

Nelson is a little nervous and shy. Once he warms up to you, he likes to be very close and loves cuddling. He enjoys taking walks and is pretty good on the leash. He knows sit, wait, place (he'll go find his bed or something similar), and kennel. He definitely is not a dog you can leave unattended - when you're not supervising, he needs to be outside or in his kennel or he will get himself in trouble. (Favorite pastimes include getting in the trash, pulling food off the counter or table, and peeing/pooping in the house.) Fortunately, he doesn't mind his kennel, especially at night. And he is good about letting you know when he needs to go outside. He's never bitten anyone but we have seen some worrisome behavior on very rare occasions with some strangers. In those instances, we just removed him from the situation. He's typically good around other dogs, but he does need a little time to warm up first. Once more familiar, he loves to play.
