SONI FOR ADOPTION in CORNWALL/DEVON Labrador-Retriever SONI - meaning GOLDEN which is so fitting for this gorgeous Labrador-Retriever. Size: 50cm approx shoulder height Sex: male Age: 9 years approx Neutered: yes Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Child friendly: yes, but considering Soni's temperament, and given that this will be his future retirement home, we lean towards a tranquil and settled environment, preferably without young children. Despite his age, Soni is brimming with energy and enthusiasm, but he may need guidance in controlling his exuberance, especially around young children, as he might unintentionally cause harm due to his bouncing nature. Older teenagers who are accustomed to dogs and understand their boundaries could be a lovely match for Soni. Dog friendly: yes. Soni's recent past was spent in a bustling pen alongside other dogs at the Bark Ark rescue shelter. However, despite his friendly demeanor with the dogs he's encountered, Soni can be selective, requiring thoughtful introductions. We feel that he prefers females to males, but then again, Soni has only recently been neutered and it takes 6+ weeks for his hormones to settle. While Soni may prefer being the sole dog in his new home, we envision social interactions with other dogs outside his home life. Cat friendly: Sadly, we are unable to assess Soni with cats here. House Trained: Soni is very clean here and has not messed in his space at all. However, in a home environment this could change for the first few days until he is settled more. Behaviour/Temperament/Unique traits/ Training needs: Soni, at 9 years young, defies his age with boundless energy and a zest for life. Though his past remains a mystery, it's very possible he endured life mainly on a chain with limited training. Now, he's a blank canvas ready for obedience training. This Labrador-Retriever is a food enthusiast, quick to learn for a tasty treat! Despite arriving a bit underweight, Soni's resilient digestion and loving nature shine through. He thrives on human connection, adoring cuddles and attention. While social and surprisingly well-adjusted after a life on a chain, Soni can be a bit selective about his dog friends. Patient socialization will help him find balance. Soni isn't just a furry friend, he's a conversationalist! This lovable pooch expresses his impatience and affectionate nature through a series of friendly woofs to express his emotions and/or get his human's attention. Perfect for an active owner, Soni's ideal home would channel his breed traits and energy into fulfilling activities. His wonderful personality awaits the right companion. %BD'%BD%BDKindly respect Soni's need for decompression as he settles into his new life in the UK. Please follow our guidelines for new dogs, offering him the patience and space he requires for a smooth transition. Your understanding ensures a successful and loving adoption. Blood tested/Health: Yes. Tested negative for Brucellosis, Leishmans, Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia and passed her general pre-travel health check. UK vet check revealed good overall condition, but needed treatment for a long term ear infection and antibiotics to help his recent neutering scar to heal. There are various little scars on Soni, which may or may not vanish in time. Soni, albeit lively, was a star at the vet and always eager for a treat. %BD'%BD%BDRescue story: Soni was dumped at the Bark Ark shelter in Bosnia by his previous owners. Being an owner dog in Bosnia means most likely a chained life and dog house outdoors rather than indoor home life. We don't think that Soni has experienced home life as we know it in the UK. %BD'%BD%BD Ideal Home: Cornwall/Devon only please. Soni's perfect home would be with someone experienced with his breed, though dedication to his needs is equally valued. An active household suits him best, as he's not your typical 'plodder-type' Labrador and thrives on activity. A large, secure garden is a must for Soni, providing ample space for exploration, play, training and lounging. His new home shouldn't be in a town setting, but away from busy street-life, so that Soni can truly flourish in a more relaxed environment. Above all, Soni needs new people with the time, patience, love, and commitment to training him deserves. While an only-dog home is ideal, he may also thrive with a balanced female companion. %BD'%BD%BDFor homes with cats, we are unable to assess Soni's compatibility, hence we would favour a feline-free home for him. However, if you have previous experience with introducing your cat to a new dog, a dog-savvy cat and a gradual introduction are recommended. This could take time. Our experienced canine coach offers free guidance to adopters/fosterers. %BD'%BD%BDApplication and vetting processes apply.
