About Wiggy

Adoption Fee: $50
Shetland Sheepdog / German Shepherd
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Calling all rescue angels, unicorns, and heroes! After staying by her momma's bedside for months until she succumbed to Alzheimer's Disease, Miss Wiggy needs a new home. The family has her temporarily but cannot keep her much longer. They really want to avoid a shelter because Wiggy is a very scared girl. She and her former mom were very attached to each other. Hot mess? Basket case? This is how most people would describe Wiggy and they wouldn't be wrong. She seems to crave a connection with people, but doesn't know how to do it! Wiggy already had fear issues when adopted. The owner adored her imperfect dog, but not always in the healthiest way. Wiggy never received the training and socialization she needed from the start. Her fears were unknowingly enabled. Wiggy's aversion to collars and leashes was perpetuated by going collarless and never being walked on a leash. For these reasons, Wiggy needs a completely fenced-in backyard. She would be happy as she doesn't really need or enjoy walks. But there's good news. Wiggy is potty-trained! She doesn't lunge at people to bite, but she shouldn't be cornered or be forced upon. Understandably Wiggy feels more comfortable with women but skittish around men. She'll tolerate them, but is too nervous to give or receive affection but it's something to be achieved with time. Wiggy has two Chihuahuas buddies who visit her regularly. It's the one thing that brings her joy. With slow introductions to other dogs, it may do Wiggy a world of good to have a dog sibling. One that is small and confident like her current playmates, however being an only pet may be best. This poor gal is very nervous and doesn't trust people. Her advocates and the family want to help anyone who can take on this project dog! You will receive transition support, her initial veterinary needs will be covered, grooming to bring out her beautiful coat, and most importantly training. Wiggy needs help to feel good about a collar and leash and then she can start tackling her fears. Will you be her guide to reach these attainable goals? Please share her need. A fenced-in yard, no children, quiet home, no apartments and no cats.
