About Ripley

Amazing isn't too strong a word to describe Ripley, a 2 1/2-year-old mix of rat terrier and possibly dachshund. Super friendly and not at all shy, Ripley loves all people and dogs. If you have other dogs, Ripley hopes they don't mind that he's a bit of an attention hound, who is eager to absorb all the attention you have to give. He's a master cuddler and kisser. (At 22 lbs. his exuberance might be too much for small children, however.) Ripley plays with toys and loves bones, and despite his passion for treats, he takes them gently from your hand. Ripley is house-trained and crate trained, but he's accustomed to sleeping with his person. For you gardeners, he wants you to know he's not a digger! He's also not much of a barker although he becomes vocal when he plays. While he's still working on some basic cues like sit and stay, he always comes when you call, and he walks beautifully on a leash. He also enjoys car rides after an initial few moments of anxiety. In fact, he has been able to accompany his foster mom to the office, where his adorable greeting--a little jump--and those huge eyes that follow you everywhere have made him quite popular.
