About Stella

Stella is a sweet, healthy 5-year-old basset-beagle-something else mix. She was a rescue at about two years old. Her adopter worked and worked with her to solve medical and nutritional problems, as well as teaching her social skills - she had had very little contact with (friendly) humans. Stella is pretty short (basset-length legs), and quite solid, with a deep chest and wide hips. Stella is a lively and happy dog, who loves going on walks, playing with her squeaky toy, and cuddling. She gets along well with women, and most men. She is not a good candidate for a family with children, as she gets distressed and tries to herd everyone by nipping ankles if/when things get very busy or chaotic. Stella is particular about which dogs she likes and doesn't like, so careful attention is needed when introducing another dog to her. Stella walks well on leash, though off-leash she finds the most interesting scent and follows it, refusing to come when called (beagle!). Because of this, a fenced-in yard would be ideal for her, so there can be someplace she can run off-leash.
