Blaugh Home-Account ([email protected]) 12:50�'��PM (11 minutes ago) to scnc_rescue Hello, I'm Kristin Blaugh and hoping to reach somebody who I can speak with about surrendering our almost 3 yr old, Newf, Madge. Madge is an energetic, loving dog who is incredibly smart. Her behavioral issues are focused around resource guarding which is where she can be triggered and ultimately be aggressive. Her resource guarding is most consistent with food that she finds although when we feed her twice a day, she's learned to sit and wait patiently with her bowl in front of her until we free her. She guards her home and gets startled when new people (mainly men) enter the home. She can also guard toys that she has but not always. The most recent incident we had with Madge was on Christmas night when I made the mistake of getting too close to Madge when she had gotten a box of candy. She responded aggressively and I was bitten. We are a busy house with another Newf who is one year older than Madge and 3 teenagers who always have lots of people coming in and out of the house. It has been very hard for us to give Madge the focused training she needs to address these behavioral issues and also tough for us to control her home context in ways that minimize her triggers around guarding. We hope that we can have the opportunity to make a donation and bring Madge to your orgazitaion. She loves people and for the most part she has been friendly and social with other dogs. In the isolated instances when she has shown aggression towards another dog, including our other Newf, Shirley, it has been triggered by her guarding issues. I believe with focused work around these issues and a better context for Madge to learn more consistently, she will thrive.
