If you are interested in meeting or adopting a dog you must first submit the adoption application found our web page www.aplaceofhoperescue.com* BITTY is a 4 year old, 8.2 pound Chihuahua mix whose owner who found himself in a situation where he was no longer able to care for her LOCATION: Pensacola, FL NEEDS: Young active doggy friend and a fenced yard. Bitty is as sweet as can be and very affectionate. She likes to be held and loves to snuggle! But as much as she likes cuddles, she is also very playful. She would not do well as an only dog or with an older person or family who just wants a lap dog. Bitty still has some puppy-like behavior and would do best with another very playful doggie pal. She does fast zoomies in the yard and chases after her doggie friend. She pesters them if they don't want to play with her and she'd rather play with another pup than with her human. She doesn't really know how to play with toys or balls yet, and she gets bored with them easily. She likes to take stuffed toys and run off with them but doesn't play with them for long. She is much happier playing chase with a doggy friend and exploring her foster mom's fenced yard. Bitty will growl at other dogs a little if she has a toy or she is being petted her and her time with her person is interrupted, but she stops easily and goes right back to pestering them to play with her, her favorite thing! Bitty likes riding in the car, but needs a car bed and restraint, or she'll be all over the place peeking out the windows to see what's going on! She is mostly housebroken but needs to go out on a regular schedule or she might have an accident as she doesn't give a consistent signal to go out. She could probably learn to use a dog door but she's pretty small to be outside on her own so free access to a doggy door might not be the best idea for her. Bitty likes to sleep under the covers all night snuggled right next to her person under the covers. She would likely cry if she couldn't sleep in the big bed. She craves that closeness so much! Bitty has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She is a super sweet baby girl with lots of puppy like behaviors looking for a family to love! Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
