About Gilligan

The most handsome dog in town! That's Gilligan! This one-year-old pup from Luling is our poster boy at SNIPSA. Prized for his looks and easygoing personality, anyone would be lucky to take him home. Gilligan is believed to be a Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix, though we won't know for sure without a DNA test. What we do know is that he is 64 pounds of pure LOVE! Definitely a 'people dog,' this fluffy fella spends most of his time lapping up attention. One of his favorite things to do is lean up against his foster family's legs to get the best pets! Children and adults alike, he loves all humans. Gilligan will also seek out playtime with the other dogs in the home, and keeps everyone entertained with his goofy, funny personality. He has quickly figured out the doggy door, too, and will let himself outside for potty breaks. So, not only is this dog lovable-he's pretty dang smart!One important thing to note about Gilligan is that he was born with crummy hips, resulting in early hip dysplasia. He is in the process of receiving femoral head osteotomies (removal of femoral heads) to avoid potential arthritis. That said, his present condition doesn't keep him from getting around and living his best doggy life. So, if you'd like to offer this beautiful boy a brighter future, apply to meet him. He has so many years of devotion to give to his new family!
