About Penny

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Cattle Dog / Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Penny. Penny has been a cherished member of our family, but recent changes, including the arrival of a new baby, have led us to the difficult decision to find her a new forever home. About Penny: Penny is a four-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a vibrant personality. She has been an excellent companion for us, displaying immense loyalty and affection once she builds trust. Penny is extremely driven by play, and her absolute favorite activity is chasing after a ball. Personality Traits: While Penny is initially reserved and will bark at unfamiliar adults, over time she warms up to those who take the time to get to know her. She is not a dog that immediately seeks attention, but once comfortable, she becomes a belly-rub enthusiast. Penny has shown remarkable loyalty and devotion to those she trusts. Challenges: Regrettably, Penny has struggled to adjust to the presence of a new baby in our home. She displays increased signs of anxiety and has difficulty interacting with children. Her unease around kids has led us to the conclusion that she would be better suited to a home without young children. Ideal Home: We believe Penny would thrive in a calm and patient environment where her need for exercise and mental stimulation can be met. An individual or couple with experience handling Australian Cattle Dogs would be ideal. Penny's new home should be free of the energetic chaos that can come with small children. Requirements: Penny requires a daily outlet for her energy, whether it be a good walk/run, a game of fetch, or another stimulating activity. She responds well to positive reinforcement and, as mentioned, is highly motivated by toys. She has the basic foundations of training, knows sit, stay, down and is also crate trained, she sees it as a safe and comfortable space. If you are interested in providing Penny with a loving home, please reach out. We are looking for someone who understands her breed and is committed to helping her thrive in her new environment.
