Good day, eh? My name is Cecil, and as you can see I'm practicing my Canadian. I am so excited to be traveling to your beautiful country. One day my life is in tatters, the next I'm online shopping for woolen toques. I still can't quite believe it. In Houston, Texas I was homeless. Nobody wanted me - to most people I wasn't even worth acknowledging as I lived on the streets struggling to survive. One day I found my way to an apartment construction site. There I met some dog buddies who were homeless like me. We didn't have food or water or a soft place to sleep, but at least we had one other. We played together and with pieces of trash we found on the ground. When people came by to view the apartments, I got so excited. I would walk up to them and try to communicate with my soulful eyes and waggy tail I needed a family and a place to live. I would follow them to their cars to show how loyal and committed I was, but they just yelled at me to go away. It was crushing to have so much love and good cheer in my heart only to be treated as if I was nothing more than a nuisance. The construction site manager said he was going to call someone to take us away. A very nice man who was working at the site decided to try and help my friends and me before the dog catcher came and we were taken to the place from which we would never leave alive. Life off of the streets is better than I could've ever imagined. Having my very own fresh bowl of water and not having to go to sleep hungry on the hard ground every night is something I've never experienced before. There's nothing more I need in my life besides these simple yet extraordinary gifts. Except one thing - You. Would you be my family? I have so much love filling me up from the tips of my ears to my toenails that I want to share with you. I will be your devoted companion and friend through thick and thin. We can go for walks and play in the snow. I've never seen snow before except in pictures but it looks fabulous. (Maybe even a little bit edible.) We can snuggle on the sofa afterwards while you drink hot chocolate and I munch on a dog cookie. I can see it all clearly, except for your face.
