About WV- Penelope (CP)

Adoption Fee: $175.00
Maine Coon / Domestic Cat
Age: Young Kitten
Sex: Female

Sometimes life is not fair and, unfortunately, Penelope was dealt a bad hand. She is a stunning, lively, and fun girl who is seeking the perfect home! Right now she is crated in a large wire crate because she is FeLV positive, and the foster has no separate space for her. She is very active and playful and has been seen doing flips with her excessive pent-up energy. Penelope loves life, and she entertains herself with the multitude of toys she has available. Penelope is very friendly and loves to be held for a bit to accept petting. She has not had direct exposure to other cats (please see below**) or dogs. Penelope's FeLV was originally diagnosed when she was nine weeks old after being pulled from a shelter. It was confirmed with a second SNAP tested at age three months and an IDEXX FeLV Quant RealPCR test. Her diagnosis presents a risk for her and other cats unless she is in the right home. Because FeLV suppresses the immune system, she must be protected from things that could prove fatal if contracted. That is easily done by keeping her indoors and limiting her exposure to other cats who might carry something in. She can live in a household with another FeLV cat or live as the only cat in the household. Penelope deserves a great life with someone who will love her and care for her. Lots of attention and love, quality food, and routine vet care with diligence to prevent exposure to nasty cat issues could result in many years of a happy and healthy life. If you meet the requirements to qualify for Penelope, please give it serious thought. She will return the love and gratitude many times over.
