Susie Q is a 4 year old, 11.6 pound Yorkie LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard, no cats. HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet and smart! Susie Q came to us as an owner surrender. She is a smart, sweet, and serious girl. She's a little shy and uncertain but getting used to new experiences and people every day. Susie Q is getting more comfortable in her foster home but she still has a little separation anxiety. She barks a little (but not much) until she settles down. Susie Q likes to sit on a lap to watch tv. She sometimes watches the show, and she will growl at people on the screen she doesn't like now and then! She sleeps well in a fluffy donut bed in the big bed at night. She gives her foster Mom a couple of kisses and then settles in to sleep all night. Susie Q gets along well with another small male dog in her foster home. She doesn't play with him but they play fetch alongside each other with no issues. She gets a little jealous of him now and then, but they get along well for the most part. We don't think she needs to have a companion dog in the home but she wouldn't mind a small friend. She does not like cats and hasn't been tested with kids and we are not sure how she would be with them. Susie Q was so scared of the yard at first but she likes to go out now - especially to play ball! She recently found out that she loves to play fetch outside, and she brings it back almost every time! It's a highlight of her day! Yesterday she ran around the yard chasing the butterfly shadows. Not the butterflies, just their shadows on the lawn as they flew over! And then she went around and sniffed all the flowers. She's still learning to go potty consistently outside, and she's not quite there. She pees on a pad about half the time still, but she's making progress. Her foster mom is working with her on walking on a leash in the yard, but she hasn't been on a leash for a longer walk yet. We are requiring a home with a fenced yard. She gets nervous riding in the car, but that could change with more practice. Her foster mom says Susie Q is a smart cookie! She has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She needs a dental and her spay still, both are scheduled at our vet soon and covered by the rescue. Susie Q is a good little girl who will be a great little dog for the right person or family! Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
