About Ruby Dee

Life can be very stressful and we sometimes feel like we're gonna lose it. That's how Ruby Dee must feel because months in a shelter has caused her severe shelter stress. She desperately needs someone to change her life from hardship to happiness. Ruby Dee is a 1-�%BD year-old black beauty who is a mix of Dutch and German Shepherd. When she's able to hang out with the officers at Southwick, MA animal control, her personality comes out. She is affectionate to everyone. She has been nothing but sweet and loving when among people, but terribly sad when left alone. She walks great on leash and as a working dog she has a good 'work' quality about her. She'd be happy as a sidekick on anything from errands to adventures. She has a gentle spirit that responds to positive reinforcement. She also has several winning traits! Sweet and smart. Loving and loyal. Playful and athletic. Funny and friendly. Can you handle this much awesomeness? Ruby Dee is made up of highly intelligent breeds and would do best with a shepherd-savvy handler. Most important is that she be given time to decompress and get used to a new environment. For now, she must be the only pet in the home. She started life with a brute of a dog sibling and missed out on proper doggy relationships. She may eventually grow confident around other dogs, but right now she is not a fan of her peers. She would also be best for either an adult-only home, or a family with older kids who have large dog experience. She's a big and active girl, so young children are not a match.
