We can't tell Murphy's story without taking it way back! All the way back to grade school for our director! That's the start of his story without any of us even knowing it! You see Murphy was adopted as a kitten by a woman who worked for the school district as a secretary that our director attended. The director often walked up the attendance sheet to the office. She recalls Murphy's person always telling her how wonderful she was, and how lucky she was to have beautiful strawberry blonde hair, and that one day everybody was going to notice! It came at a time where children would make fun of people who were different. Our director always remembered how kind and positive Murphy's person was every single time. Fast forward, many decades later. Murphy was adopted from the Humane Society a little over 10 years ago as a kitten. He lived with his family until they both passed away. Then he was able to live outdoors with their daughter, who is highly allergic, and would come into their garage at night. They spend a lot of time outdoors, but we know that Murphy likely missed the companionship he had from his people. The daughter, her husband, and the rest of her family decided to move south. It was just too hard to live next to the house that her parents lived in. So they decided to sell. The people that bought the house continued to feed him, but he was no longer be allowed even in the garage. She tried to reach out to people, and nobody agreed to take him. Our director saw the social media post and offered to help right away. She remembered how kind Murphy's mom was. She wanted to honor her by helping him find You! Once he arrived at our organization, we began to help heal his heart and his body. You see, a few weeks before we took him he stopped being able to see well. They said he was bumping into things. We were very concerned that he was going blind. Two vets said they didn't think that was happening. When he first came in his eyes were like globes. They reflected light even during the day and the pupils did not contract. He received a full panel of bloodwork, dewormers, flea treatment, a dental cleaning with extraction and antibiotics. His bloodwork was wonderful, by the way! All his organ function is fantastic! And would you believe it'| Just some TLC and special care, and he become healthy and happy. His eyes responded as well! You wouldn't even know that he recently was not able to see well. His pupils react to light, and he is able to move about without concern! It's amazing what a little TLC will do! Unfortunately, Murphy was allowed outside his whole life, and they can recall him coming back wounded at least once, if not more. During one of these times, he likely contracted FIV. Don't let that scare you. Cats can live long happy lives with the virus. If the virus becomes progressive (rather than dormant) they're immune system could be weakened. Routine medical care and quality food will help them live long healthy lives! Murphy also does well with other cat so he can live harmoniously in a home with negative cats without issue! We are happy to talk with you more about this! We absolutely love Murphy here! He loves his name, by the way! He will answer back to it every time you say his name. He is just a wonderful soul, with a kind heart! He loves to be held. He's just precious. Would you like to meet him? Wonderful!
