Tansy is one of 11 pups who had the good fortune to be born within the safe, loving environment of a New Rattitude foster home back in early August. At 12 weeks, Tansy weighed 13 lbs., so she'll probably grow to weigh more than her 25-lb. rat terrier mom. Tansy is crate trained and on her way to being house-trained. She sleeps in her crate all night without any accidents, and she knows how to use a dog door, freely going in and out of the house. She sometimes forgets to go out if she's playing, so it helps that she understands the reminder to 'go potty.' Tansy is very smart and loves to learn new things. In addition to 'go potty,' she knows 'sit,' 'wait,' 'back up,' 'up,' and 'come.' She has also learned not to bite or scratch at people for attention, and she's currently working on leash training, a skill she'll soon master with a little more practice. At her most recent vet visit, Tansy was well behaved and stood still for her exam, temperature check, and shot. Of the three littermates in her foster home, she is the most confident and will often lead the others on outdoor adventures. She would likely do well in dog sports. Tansy plays well with other dogs and enjoys toys. She hasn't met cats, but with some guidance, she should be fine with them. So far she's not been much of a barker, but in true terrier fashion, she can dig a hole faster than you can say, 'New Rattitude!'
