About Onyx

Lab / German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Courtesy post....To meet Onyx, please call +1 (917) 251-9839 or e-mail: [email protected] Onyx is a 2.5 year male old handsome lab mix! He weighs about 85 pounds. Reason for rehoming: Onyx is very stressed living in downtown Baltimore. A new environment was recommended by his trainer where he can thrive and be a happier pup. Vet history: he is healthy, neutered and up-to-date on all shots, takes monthly preventatives and registered with Baltimore city. He currently takes one medication to help manage the stress he feels from living in an urban environment. Personality: He's a loyal and loving dog! He loves playing with toys, and will sleep by your side for hours. He has a cat buddy that he lives with currently and gets along well with dogs on play dates and at parks. He's highly curious and loves to hike, go to dog parks and take long walks. He has an amazing snore and won't leave your side if you are sick. + housebroken, no accidents if you leave him alone, which can be for up to 4 hours if he doesn't have access to a backyard. + does not destroy furniture and would do best in a dog proofed area or crate when home alone. + will need someone familiar with resource guarding behavior. This is a natural behavior for dogs in the wild, but sometimes it carries over into a home environment depending on puppy experiences. It requires management techniques such as trading out toys and feeding Onyx in his own area at meal time. Due to this, he would do best in an adult only home. His dog trainer says that as he distresses when out of the city environment, this behavior should improve. Owner will provide dog bed, toys, collar, leash and harness, food bowls and any food/ treats/supplies/ medications available at time of adoption.
